Seeing From Beneath the Ice

Seeing From Beneath the Ice

Hand-sewn Fiber, Video, Sound

The precarious state of ice in the Arctic is dependent upon the temperature, sun, wind and the powerful tides.

Ice travels on the waves, blown by the wind, landing on the beach.

issinniat are these chunks of ice waiting for sun melt, waiting for the tides to float back out to sea.

kivinig is a depression in shore ice caused by the weight of the water that passed over and accumulated on its surface during the tides.

Underneath the calmness on the surface is the turbulence in these powerful lives.
